Kyle should need no introduction\, but if he does\, he’s the man behind the camera filming most of our meetings and events. He has also been a previous guest speaker.\nKyle is a young\, enthusiastic angler\, who along with his wife and Father are absolute fishing fanatics. Always looking for a way to be on the water\, Kyle takes on the – “If it has fins and swims\, I want to try and catch it” approach to his fishing.\nKyle is also the founder and producer of Indiana Kayak Fishing Journal on YouTube. You can follow along and find a plethora of information on many different species of fish\, tips\, techniques\, kayak know-how\, gear\, etc. for many local waters.\nNot one to shy away from the “exotic or unusual”\, Kyle will be presenting a program featuring “Gar on the Fly”. He is somewhat of a pioneer in this endeavor here locally we feel. While Kyle has fished for multiple species of Gar with conventional gear\, he holds the current Indiana state record for “short nose gar”\, he has become more excited about the possibilities\, techniques and what’s out on the horizon for fly fishing for gar in our local waters. Kyle recently caught and released what possibly may have been a record “spotted gar” here in northeast Indiana. But we’ll let him tell the story. Love them or hate them\, Gar are a fascinating prehistoric species\, a carryover from the last ice age. They will test your wits and your tackle\, offer something new and exciting on the fly.\nKyle will cover the various species of Gar available to Hoosier anglers. Where and how to locate gar\, and the different water types in which they live. He will present thoughts and ideas on the variety of equipment choices and flies used for gar\, as well as how to set up and use a kayak for chasing these local dinosaurs. Kyle will highlight his presentation with video footage and photographs and will share different tips that have brought him success. Unusual\, yes. Exciting\, absolutely. Brad will also set up and demonstrate furled leader construction. \nMy name is Brad Sherrick and I live in Ohio. I am a member of the Three River Fly Fishers. I have been fly fishing since the age of 12. Being from Ohio\, I stared fishing for warm water species with the long rod and discovered the joys of trout fishing later in life. I have chased Largemouth\, Smallmouth and various species of pan fish throughout Ohio and a large portion of Michigan. I have fished for trout primarily in Michigan and Ohio\, but have fished several of our western states. \nI started making and using furled leaders about 15 years ago and have never looked back.
